♥ Banff Engagement photographer - Gayle + Vince ♥
G
ayle and Vince planned a wedding in Montreal but wanted some engagement portraits to reflect their home in Alberta and week-ends spent together in the mountains. Gayle has serious skills to climb rocks in her heels and thankfully Vince is such a gentleman to hold her hand and her heels. An afternoon well spent and fondly remembered by me.

♥ Banff Engagement photography - Cheryl + Lance ♥
I
had never met Cheryl and Lance before their engagement session but they made me feel at ease and in laughter immediately. Cheryl and Lance spend a lot of their time off together snowboarding and being out in the mountains that they call home so we went in search of snow in the middle of April and found not only snow but the most incredible sky and spring day.

♥ Banff Engagement session - Nicole + Brendan ♥
O
ne of the most joyful parts of my job is getting to photograph a couple's engagement session. It's time that has no schedule, no worries about getting a dress dirty and time for the couple to spend some time focusing on nothing but each other. I always feel incredibly lucky to get to witness love stories in this way. I love getting to know a couple a little bit more before their wedding day and this was especially true when I spent a morning with Nicole and Brendan whose wedding I will get to photograph next summer.

What I loved seeing was how at ease they are with each other and my heart melted when we sat in the car and they showed me pictures of their daughter as they glowed just mentioning her name. They were new parents when we met and had been experiencing many sleepness nights but when they spoke about their daughter all the sleepness nights were forgotten and they beamed.

♥ Moraine Lake Engagement - Simon + Julie ♥
I
love it when couples find ways to include what they love to do together in their engagement session. Simon and Julie chose Moraine Lake as it's a place they love to hang out and Simon has done extensive hiking in the area. When they have time off you'll find Simon and Julie hiking and camping in the mountains together so it was fitting that they showed up in their hiking boots to a favourite place of theirs.

Perhaps it is because Simon and Julie have spent over a decade living in different countries and cities together or perhaps it is because they share a passion for science, what I found that stood out to me about spending some with Simon and Julie is that they laugh easily together. There is something simply joyful about being around a couple who laughs easily and often with each other. I found myself smiling all evening.

♥ Canmore Engagement Portrait - Coreen + Ian ♥
C
oreen and Ian drove 7 hours to meet me in the mountains for their engagement portrait. We had originally planned for an evening shoot but rain and sleet made us reschedule our evening plans in the hopes that we would have better weather in the morning.

We were rewarded with a gorgeous morning exactly when we needed it. This fall has been one of the prettiest and I am so happy that the fall colour stuck around long enough for us to be able to capture it. The rain and sleet from the night before gave us some beautiful crisp snow in the mountains.

I love the contrast of the yellow trees with the dark evergreens.
Coreen and Ian had me laughing all morning.
Our beautiful Alberta blue skies made an appearance for their engagement shoot complete with pretty clouds.
Coreen and Ian thank you for being so flexible and rescheduling your engagement shoot for better weather, it was well worth it. I'm so happy we got to spend some time together before your winter wedding.
