♥ Banff Engagement Portrait - Yi Jun + Jean Luc ♥
i Jun and Jean Luc traveled all the way from Singapore for a ski vacation with their family and decided to have their engagement portraits taken while they were visiting Banff to use for their save the date cards for their wedding back home next year.

They were both brave to be heading out for winter engagement portraits having only just arrived from Singapore where it was 30 degrees warmer. We were lucky to get a fresh snowfall during their visit which made for beautiful photographs and they were up for photos in the snow despite the cold. Yi Jun and I had been writing each other for months and she asked me what colour I thought photographed well against the snow, I suggested red and I was thrilled to see they included red for pops of colour.

I feel very lucky to have photographed their engagement portraits and to have documented their time in the Canadian Rocky mountains so that they can share them at their wedding in Singapore.

♥ Lake Louise - Jamie + Andrew ♥
amie and Andrew flew from New York to visit Lake Louise and have some engagement portraits taken while they were here. I was super excited that the lake had just frozen and there was a fresh snowfall making it a beautiful winter wonderland. Andrew has an amazing dry sense of humour and my cheeks were so sore from laughing during the time we spent with them and I loved watching how Jamie laughs with her whole body with Andrew, they are a perfect match. It was a hilarious morning and I loved every minute of it!

♥ Banff engagement session - Kalena + Michael ♥
alena and Michael have created the sweetest family. The four of them together are so lovely to be around and made for a really inspiring photo session. The winds were fierce the day we met up and I was amazed at just how tough Kalena and Michael were not to mention their tiny pups who shivered but proved to be excellent photo subjects especially when treats were involved. If we didn't already have two pups that we love immensely in our own home I would of been tempted to keep Rusty and Lyla but I know for a fact Kalena and Michael would never of gone for that.

Kalena and Michael rescued Rusty from a shelter a couple of years ago. The poor sweet little man had been returned for being "too mellow". Kalena describes Rusty as more of a cat than a dog but he fits in perfectly and is so loved in their home. Kalena had been scouring the shelters for another dog to add to their family and after 2 years they finally found the perfect pup for their home in Lyla. Lyla had been found abandoned and then returned to the shelter after a couple of home trys. Lyla has finally found her forever home and she is adored.

I love that Kalena and Michael have invited their friends and family to join them as they get married in the mountains but they have also invited their friends dogs to join as well. Kalena and Michael told us we could bring our pups but our naughty pups would never let us get any photographs taken if they attended. Rusty and Lyla will naturally be a part of their wedding. I can't wait. Kalena has already been creating a rather handsome outfit for Rusty.
They call it Rusty's Elvis lip. I call it adorable.

♥ Emerald Lake Engagement - Jennifer + Rob ♥
t is perfectly fitting that this week-end which is Canadian Thanksgiving I am feeling incredibly thankful for the experiences I get to have as a mountain wedding photographer. I am invited to our favourite places in the mountains to photograph couples at their happiest. I was honoured that Kevin and I were asked to meet Jennifer and Rob at Emerald Lake to capture some engagement portraits for them. Jennifer and Rob had never been to Emerald Lake before booking it for their wedding next summer so they decided to make the long drive down from Fort McMurray to see it and they were thrilled with their decision. They arrived late at night when it was dark and woke up the next day to see Emerald Lake. We loved getting to head out on canoes for the last week-end they are available at Emerald Lake and enjoy the fall colours and crisp air. I was so moved by Jennifer's excitement and moments of tears as the realization that they will soon be getting married hit her as we spent the afternoon taking photographs where they will soon become Mr & Mrs.

Jennifer and Rob are up for anything and climbed over rocks so we could capture some photographs at spots we hadn't explored before. They bring good luck with them as it was predicted to be thunderstorming on the day we chose to meet but we arrived to a beautiful calm afternoon. They were randomly given a canoe to take out and it just so happened to have the date of their wedding on it. As we finished taking photographs and Jennifer and Rob headed off to Field to enjoy some pork belly nachos it poured rain. Our timing couldn't of been more perfect. Emerald Lake lodge has fireplaces in every room so I loved driving home in the pouring rain knowing they would get to enjoy a cozy night by the fire dreaming up wedding plans.

♥ Banff Engagement portrait - Jeana + Devin ♥
am beyond excited about Jeana & Devin's upcoming fall wedding at The Post Hotel. I was thrilled to get to spend a beautiful evening with the two of them for some engagement portraits around Banff. They have a quiet ease that is calming to be around.
I love that Devin wore his cowboy boots that once belonged to his father for photos. It's so nice when people can incorporate some family history into photographs.
Devin planned a truly romantic proposal for Jeana that involved a matchbox and a fireplace so I had to include a photo of the ring that Devin designed for Jeana with some matches.
