♥ Emerald Lake Invitation ♥
ocal Graphic Designer Shanna Cremers of Pink Umbrella Designs has been working on a line of Rocky Mountain wedding invitations and I was excited to hear that she wanted to feature my favourite place Emerald Lake.

Shanna reached out to me and asked if she could please have my permission to use one of my photographs as a reference point for her invitation, I was happy to give her permission and was shocked to see her finished Emerald Lake invitation later that same day!

Below is Shanna's finished invitation and the photograph that inspired her design is below that.

♥ Acrylic block ♥
am in love with the almost 3D quality of the new 5x7 acrylic blocks available. They are perfect for standing up on your desk, mantle, display shelf. Ask to come by my office to see one in person.

♥ The Dino Martinis ♥
rom the moment they stepped on the stage with their red glitter suits it was obvious The Dino Martinis were there to have fun and bring the party.

Karen and Brad hired The Dino Martinis for their wedding and I don't think I've ever seen such an energetic dancefloor! They had everyone on the dancefloor and some guests even braved heading up on stage to sing a couple of songs with the band.

As I mentioned before Karen had asked if the band could learn a couple of polka songs to surprise her Dad. Not only did they learn the songs she requested but they actually got in touch with the musician who created Karen's favourite polka song and read a few words of well wishes from the musician to her. It was a very thoughtful surprise from the band.

♥ Lynn Fletcher Weddings ♥
had to share this transformation of a room by Lynn Fletcher Weddings from a wedding that I photographed this week-end at The Banff Springs. Trisha and Josh had a 16 foot ice bar that featured two martini ice luges at either end just outside the Cascade Ballroom in the conservatory.

It was amazing seeing the room transform as the outside light got darker and the lighting started to glow. It was a great use of the space. The guests LOVED the ice bar and the lounge seating and lighting encouraged people to hang out together.

Lynn is the master of transforming spaces. She understands the power of using lighting and some pipe and drape to create focal points. Beyond the design of the decor though Lynn's designs are always thoughtful in terms of how a wedding really uses a space and she creates spaces that encourage guests to move throughout. Lynn also understands that having the right team in place is critical in making sure she can make a couple's vision come to life on time. The team from Stardust Event Group did an incredible job with the lighting and I love that they understand the importance of colours with regards to photography. As a photographer I really value professional lighting.

I thought I'd share some photos of the space the night of the wedding and what it looked like the next day so you can get a better idea of the transformation. I can't wait to share more from this wedding!
Frozen Memories created a 16 foot ice bar with martini luges at either end. The middle piece featured a custom design that read "Gustav's Icebar" a nice nod to Trisha and Josh's dog Gus.

♥ Nicole * Confetti Films ♥
first met Nicole and Trevor a couple of years ago when they filmed Jenna & Ross' wedding. Their work really moved me.

Nicole's films capture genuine emotions in a way that is unique to her gift of storytelling. She is passionate about weddings and about connecting with couples and telling their stories and it shows in her work.

We've developed a friendship over the last couple of years. I don't remember how the conversation started but it was decided that Nicole and Trevor would come out to Banff to visit with us and while they were here I would take a photograph of Nicole for her website. I was nervous to photograph a visual artist and Nicole was nervous about being photographed. Nicole reassured me by saying she only needed a single photograph for her website. Somehow those words set me free to feel comfortable and inspired.

As you can see here I ended up with more than a single photograph for Nicole. Our friendship inspired me.

Nicole teased me that a more accurate description for my portrait sessions should include the words "adventure photography" as we hiked into some of my favourite places in the snow.

You can read about the experience from Nicole's perspective here.

These are my favourite shoes that Nicole wears to weddings. They are worn with love.
Nicole you are beautiful. Stephanie Roy from in Banff did Nicole's hair and make-up for our shoot.
Nicole is a gifted storyteller. The lovely ladies at Icing Designs made a custom garland for me for our shoot. The word that always comes to mind when I think of Nicole's work is "Storyteller".
At some point in our conversations about the shoot Nicole told me that she is most comfortable in a toque. I commissioned the artist Yokoo to handmake a toque just for Nicole to wear on our shoot.
The week-end was the very first time I got to meet Nicole and Trevor's daughter. She instantly had me charmed. She has a sparkle and a sweet spirit that I loved being around. I'm sure Trevor and Nicole were really impressed with me when I suggested we head to Welsh's candy shop a Banff tradition right before what should of been bedtime.
Trevor works with Nicole on almost all of her films and he is an amazing support to her. They are a great team.
Nicole thank you for trusting me to take your photograph. I am grateful for our friendship and the inspiration it gives me.
