A Love Letter to my Couples

December 3, 2020

Kirstie Tweed/Orange Girl

I want to express my deepest gratitude to my couples past & present during what has been the most challenging year I have faced. To those couples who wrote to tell me that they were thinking of me and my small business during this year THANK YOU! It felt amazing to be thought of and to know my couples understood what this challenging year has meant for Kevin and I.

I have always said that my job brings me immense joy. It's a place I can show up and forget the troubles of the world because on that day true love has been found and expressed in the most magical of settings. I get to hear heartfelt vows with my husband at my side and that is so affirming. I leave weddings feeling giddy. I miss weddings with all my heart. I miss witnessing that kind of joy. The troubles of the world have become overwhelming and are no longer balanced by the happiness of a wedding.

To my couples who have attempted to plan their wedding during a pandemic that is constantly changing...I am amazed & moved by your grace. It can be challenging to plan one wedding but to have those plans shattered and be trying to plan around a moving target that changes weekly is heartbreaking. I know the love & care you have put into your wedding planning. I have been amazed at the kindness & grace I have been shown by you as you work to navigate this constantly changing world.

I can not wait to celebrate with you! I can't wait to see you announced MARRIED!! I can't wait for you to experience the mountains as you say I do! It will be my honour & greatest joy to document those moments for you.

Hello

Hello my name is Kirstie and I am a wedding photographer who specializes in photographing intimate weddings & elopements in Calgary, Banff, Canmore & Emerald Lake. I’ve been photographing mountain weddings since we moved to Banff in 2004. I lived in the mountains for 17 years before moving to Calgary in 2021. On days off you'll find me spending time with my husband Kevin and our 3 rescue dogs Mabel, Olive & Bandit.
