We hadn't had but a skiff of fresh snow since before Christmas until 2 days before Mel & Gavin's winter wonderland wedding at Lake Louise. The mountains delivered beautiful sparkly snow just in time to dress up their day. Mel and Gavin's heartfelt day was filled with tears, laughter and a lot of love. I was giddy getting to see all the kilts in the snowy mountain scene and to hear the bagpipes in that setting was magical!! After saying I do with the mountains as their backdrop guests were invited for a horse drawn sleigh ride around Lake Louise. The winding trail took us to the end of Lake Louise where the horses stepped out onto the frozen lake with a blue waterfall visible from the carriage. It was breathtaking and winter at it's finest. The sound of the horses bells softly jingling with every step back to the Chateau was so peaceful. There Gavin and the boys laced up their skates and stepped out onto what has to be the most beautiful outdoor skating in the world as the sun set behind Victoria Glacier. It was a beyond beautiful day with a kind couple who are totally in love and grateful to call each other Mr & Mrs after 14 years of love & commitment together.
There were lots of thoughtful details incorporated in their day to honour their families. This locket has been worn by the women in their family on their wedding day and Mel continued the tradition on her day.
Mel's father paused the ceremony to fix her veil so that it looked perfect.
Gavin's brother wasn't able to travel so he joined in via FaceTime to witness the ceremony and share a speech for the newlyweds.
Gavin's father passed away recently so they had a photograph of him in the seat beside his mother to honour his presence.
