Carlen & Kellan's intimate winter wedding at the Creekside Villa in Canmore was incredibly inspiring for me. It was my first time getting to photograph a wedding at Creekside and I was really excited to get to experience the space and photograph something completely new to me. It could not of been a more perfect experience! Creekside Villa offers something totally unique in that you can stay on the top floor and hold your ceremony & reception in the two floors below making it ideal for those with kids. We woke up to an extreme cold weather warning saying exposed skin would get frostbite in minutes. That made Creekside an even more welcome venue because I knew we could shoot everything inside and be totally happy given all of the beautiful textures and furniture in the villa. There was beautiful natural light glowing for the ceremony making it a photographer's dream. The cold weather may have cut our outdoor photos to mere minutes but it allowed me to focus on my first love good light and finding ways to photograph people's connections in the small gestures. Carlen & Kellan's families were kind & welcoming and it was lovely to get to witness their close connections in a totally private intimate setting.
Carlen & Kellan's daughter was in such a great mood all day. I loved her expressions and excitement to say hello to everyone.
I thought it was so sweet that Carlen & her Dad held hands down the aisle.
Carlen's family made the custom cookie favours and Carlen's Mum made their wedding cake.
The staff at Creekside Villa are phenomenal and were quick to transform the ceremony space into seating for dinner. One thing that I loved is that there is a completely separate and huge floor below where they hold the cocktail hour so guests aren't crammed in between dinner tables for cocktail hour.
Thank you to the crew at Creekside for your hospitality and for allowing us to shoot around your set up when the cold weather kept us inside.
