Michaela & Tristyn's deep love for their family ranch was the inspiration for every detail of their Millarville ranch wedding. Their appreciation & respect for their family history, their love of animals, their passion for nature & the outdoors and their love for growing plants were all qualities that made me excited to see their day unfold.  Michaela & Tristyn and their families put so much heart & work into every detail of their ranch wedding. It was a true reflection of them.

When Michaela first contacted me to ask if I would travel outside of the mountains to photograph her wedding at her fiance's family ranch in Millarville I felt like the universe had given me a gift. You see Kevin & I had been watching endless episodes of Heartland while our dog Olive recovered from her hip replacement surgeries and those episodes were all about the breath taking scenery for us. Knowing that Heartland was filmed in Millarville I couldn't wait to experience that beauty in person.

We met up with Michaela & Tristyn at the ranch on a day when the wildfire smoke & relentless heat was at it's worst and still it's beauty made me gasp and feel giddy. Michaela & Tristyn are a couple who make you feel at home with them instantly and getting to walk the ranch and hear about their love for this place was inspiring. When it came to Michaela & Tristyn's wedding day they were gifted the most beautiful day of the summer with gorgeous blue skies, stunning clouds that created soft filtered light and a forecast for 60% rain that did not come true.

This day with this couple in this magical setting was a dream day for me. My heart is happy.

It is very rare for me to meet a fellow beetle owner let alone someone who owns the same year as mine was. When Tristyn first told me his first car was a 1973 VW superbeetle I instantly felt a kinship with him. My first car was an orange 1973 superbeetle and I still miss that car.

These bells are over a 100 years old and were used to dress their horse Romeo on the wedding day. It sounded incredible as he approached the aisle.

Their handsome 15 year old horse Romeo pulled the wooden cart that Tristyn's Dad built 20 years ago.

Michaela arrived in style to the ceremony in a horse drawn cart driven by Tristyn's Dad. It was like a storybook.

Napoleon the 17 year old Italian Greyhound was featured prominently in the maid of honour's speech so when Napoleon made an appearance at the reception I felt like a celebrity had just crashed the wedding.
