Yoho National Park reopened today and we were very excited to visit after 78 days of staying home. Emerald Lake put on a stunning show today. When we stepped out of our car we were greeted by the sound of a loon which is my favourite sound in the world. As we stood in the parking lot a bald eagle flew past us. It was quite the start to our day and we hadn't even left the parking lot! There were hundreds of glacier lilies lining the pathways and beautiful gatherings of purple orchids in bloom. I was happy to see the canoe dock was permitted to open for the first day today and I stopped into their shop to pick up some beautiful custom made postcards. On our drive home we spotted 3 grizzly bears from our car. The day felt magical and I've never felt more grateful to be back at Emerald Lake. Emerald Lake Lodge is scheduled to re-open on June 3rd.
I was thrilled to see that The Boathouse Trading Co. was permitted to re-open today. The canoes are out on Emerald Lake! The Emerald Lake Canoe dock is a family run business that started with 3 canoes in 1981. They are independent from Emerald Lake Lodge. (The daughter Noa is missing from this family photo)
