Shu & Matt eloped at Emerald Lake Lodge on an absolutely magical breath taking winter wonderland day that was filled with lots of laughter and love. Emerald Lake had just received a big fluffy snowfall transforming it into a living snowglobe with trees flocked with glittering snow & knee deep snow blanketed the lake. It was absolutely beautiful. I am in love with the day that Shu & Matt created. It was perfect in every way. Shu & Matt's wedding day style was a total dream and they held true to their statement to me to hike wherever I wanted for photos. These two live a life of adventure together so I couldn't imagine a more fitting day and place to become Mr & Mrs. Emerald Lake felt like it was aglow.
Shu brought along the beautiful ring dish that once belonged to Matt's Grandmother to place their rings in. It was a really special way to honour Matt's Grandmother. (SURPRISE Matt!)
We started their day with a first look so we could take advantage of the best of the winter light. Matt and Shu were absolutely brilliant in that they booked both the upstairs & downstairs rooms in Cabin 14 so that they had the entire cabin to themselves. Matt got ready downstairs and Shu got ready upstairs. It also meant that they didn't have to worry about noisy neighbours because they had their peaceful cabin all to themselves. I've never seen anyone think of this but it was very clever and made for a really relaxed wedding day.
I was absolutely in love with Shu's updo by Lilies & Lace. It was so elegant and photographed beautifully from all sides and I loved that Shu didn't have to fuss with her hair as it stayed in place perfectly.
Winter Wonderland Perfection!
When you book the Elopement package at Emerald Lake Lodge they have a bouquet & boutonniere created for you and I absolutely LOVED Shu's bouquet which was the perfect pop of colour against the snow and didn't fade one bit in the winter weather.
Shu & Matt looked absolutely STUNNING!!! Shu perfected the winter bride look and Matt's perfectly tailored wool suit was so handsome and kept him warm.
From head to toe Shu & Matt thought of every detail. I loved Matt's handsome and warm UGG boots and when I mentioned to Shu that the snow was knee deep at Emerald Lake she brought her emerald green Hunter boots to keep her dry while hiking in the snow drifts.
I find it incredibly romantic when elopement couples walk down their aisle together. As if on cue it started to softly snow just as Shu & Matt started to walk from their cabin to The Viewpoint for their wedding ceremony.
Just as Shu & Matt signed the wedding registry making them officially Mr & Mrs a nearby tree released it's snow in a fine glittering blanket. It was Mother Nature's confetti showering the newlyweds!
After the ceremony we headed back to the lodge with the new Mr & Mrs so they could cut their cake. Emerald Lake Lodge includes a wedding cake perfect for an elopement when you book their elopement package. This sweet cake was absolutely perfect and mimicked the snow flocked trees that could be seen from the windows of the lodge.
