Kevin and I got to tour the newly built Catholic Church in Canmore today. The Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Rockies is awash in light making it feel lovely. Despite the ability to seat 422 people the church feels cozy with the dark wood pews and accents. The custom stained glass window features the Three Sisters, a mine shaft as a nod to Canmore's history and mountain wildlife. The Marian blue & star ceilings are a lovely surprise when you look up. There are several marble pieces that have come from Buffalo, NY and Chicago. As a wedding photographer I am thrilled to finally experience a church that thoughtfully features natural light as opposed to the dark churches I am used to. All of the light and mountain views make this a truly unique church in Canmore.
