Ptarmigan Cirque Larch Hike

Ptarmigan Cirque is so nice we did it twice! It was so stunning that when we hiked back down and realized how much of the day we had left, we ate our lunch in the car and decided to head back up for another view. I can't say I've ever done the same hike twice in a row.

Ptarmigan Cirque was awash in beautiful fall colour. The larches had turned their golden yellow. You could hear the sounds of Pika echo throughout the meadow. As we sat by the waterfall we watched Pikas and Chipmunks running from boulder to boulder. It was a stunning day!

I have to admit when we pulled up at 10am on Wednesday and saw that the parking lot was full and cars were parked on both sides of the highway for as far as you can see I was ready to turn the car around. But we found out that most of the cars were people going to hike Pocaterra Ridge and decided to give it a try. I'm so grateful we did! We managed to get a quiet stretch on the hike up.
