The Valley of the Ten Peaks which you see from Moraine Lake was once featured on the Canadian $20 bill. This famous view draws thousands of tourists so it's best to time your visit for first thing in the morning or late afternoon in hopes of finding parking and enjoying the lake. It is a beautiful lake to paddle on and well worth the crowds if you can time it so that you are there on a less busy day (weekdays are best).

Freeze and thaw vary every year but given the high elevation canoes are generally available for the start of the season in July and are available until September depending on first snowfall because the road to Moraine Lake closes with the arrival of snow.
